Aster
Aster, a large genus of composite plants, three-fourths of which are natives of North America, and one, A. Tripolium, the Sea Aster, is British. They vary in the form of the leaf, and range in height from three inches to ten feet, but agree in having yellow tubular disc florets, and strap-shaped ray florets, either white, lilac or purple, with numerous imbricate bracts to the involucre. Several species are cultivated under the names of Michaelmas and Christmas Daisies.
