Argus
Argus, the hundred-eyed monster of classical mythology, set by jealous Here (Juno) to watch over Io even after her transformation into a cow. Hermes (Mercury), at the instigation of the amorous Zeus (Jupiter), killed this creature, and earned the title of Argeiphontes. Here transferred his hundred eyes to the peacock's tail. His name has become a synonym for restless vigilance.
