Arcis-sur-Aube, a town in the department of Aube, France, about 18 miles north of Troyes on the left bank of the river Aube; Danton was born here. A severe battle was fought close by in 1814 between Napoleon and the Austro-Russian army under Schwartzenberg. The chief manufactures are yarn and cotton stockings.
