Apsheron

Apsheron, a peninsula that runs into the Caspian Sea from the west, and terminates in Cape Apsheron, which is the extreme point of the Caucasian range. The whole peninsula abounds in mineral oils, naphtha, and flammable gases. The soil yields also madder, saffron, and salt.
