Appointment
Appointment, the act of designating a person to an office or as a trustee, or to take an interest in property under a power of appointment. An appointment to one or more of the objects of a particular power to the exclusion of the others is called an Exclusive Appointment. Every deed which creates a trust and nominates trustees should contain a power to appoint new ones, and this power should be comprehensive and provide for all usual contingencies. Such a power must be strictly exercised. In the absence of a power to appoint new trustees the Chancery Division of the High Court of Justice has jurisdiction to nominate them under divers statutes.
