Ansdell
Ansdell, Richard, R.A., animal and landscape painter, was born in 1815 at Liverpool. He made his debut at the Royal Academy Exhibition in 1840. For several years he exhibited principally Spanish subjects. He received a gold medal at the Paris Exhibition of 1855, and in 1861 he was elected A.R.A., becoming a full Academician in 1870. He died in 1885.
