Anabolism
Anabolism (from the Greek ana, up, bide, throwing), a term applied in physiology to those processes of metabolism, or change of food-substances, which consist in the building up of comparatively simple chemical compounds, such as the inorganic substances water and carbon-dioxide taken in by plants, into more complex organic compounds. It is sometimes termed constructive metabolism.
