Airdrie

Airdrie, a burgh and market town in Lanarkshire, Scotland, 11 miles E. of Glasgow, on the high load to Edinburgh. The place depends for its prosperity on the iron and coal mines in its vicinity. Cotton-mills, foundries, and other manufactories have been established there. It was formerly grouped in Parliamentary representation with Falkirk and other boroughs, but is now merged in the county division.
