AEolus

AEolus, the mythological son of Hippotes, who was descended from AEolus, son of Hellen, the progenitor of the AEolian Greeks. He was regarded as the divine controller of the winds, his home being placed in Lipari or Stromboli. (See Hom. Od. x. and Virg. AEn. i.)
