Wren, Sir Christopher. Born in East Knoyle, in Wiltshire, October 20, 1632. An eminent English architect, best known as the architect of St. Paul's Cathedral. Wren was, however, the architect of numerous other churches, and of many public buildings. He received his knighthood in 1672. Died at Hampton Court, February 25, 1723. Wren is buried in the crypt of St. Paul's, with the appropriate inscription, "Si monumentum requiris, circumspice" (If you seek a monument, look around).
