Wallace, Alfred Russel. Born in 1823. Scientific writer. Visited South America and the Malay Archipelago, publishing the results of his observations on his return, among his other works being "Contributions to the Theory of Natural Selection," "On Miracles and Modern Spiritualism," "Land Nationalization," and "Darwinism." The discovery of the evolution hypothesis was arrived at by him at the same time as by Darwin. Alfred Russel Wallace died in 1913.
