Tolstoi, or Tolstoy, Leo Nikolaievitch. Russian author and social reformer. Born in 1828. Studied at the University of Kazan. Served in the Crimean War. Published "War and Peace," "Anna Karenina," "The Kreutzer Sonata," also several essays in moral philosophy, including "My Religion." Died 1910.
