Turgenieff, Ivan Sergyevitch. Russian novelist. Born in 1818. Turgenieff studied at the University of Berlin. After the Franco-German War, removed to Paris, where he mainly resided thereafter. Among his novels are "A Nest of Nobles," "Fathers and Sons," and "Virgin Soil." Died 1883.
