St. Bridget (brid'jet), or St. Bride. The patroness of Ireland. Born at Fochart, County of Armagh. Flourished in the beginning of the 6th century. Was renowned for her beauty, and founded the monastery of Kildare, where she devoted herself to the education of young girls.
