Saxe, Maurice, Comte. Born in 1696. Marshal of France. Was a natural son of Augustus II of Saxony and Poland. Saxe's greatest achievements were the victories of Fontenoy, Laffeld, and Raucoux, and the capture of Maestricht. He left a work entitled "Mes Reveries," which was published in 1757, and subsequently translated. Saxe died in 1750.
