Stone, Marcus. English painter. Born in 1840. At an early age, he illustrated books by Dickens, Trollope, and others. His pictures are mostly subjects of human and historical interest. He exhibited in more than 50 exhibitions of the Royal Academy. Most of his works have been engraved. He received medals at exhibitions in various parts of the world. Died 1921.
