Stuart, James E. B. Born in 1833. American general. Known for his services to the Confederacy during the Civil War, his chief exploits being the night attack of August, 1862, when General Pope's papers were captured, and the raid across the Potomac in the same year. He was mortally wounded at Yellow Tavern. Stuart died at Richmond, 1864.
