Stuart, Gilbert Charles. "American Stuart." Born in 1755. Portrait-painter. Went to England when young, and lived there until 1793. He was a pupil of West, and executed portraits of George III, George IV, Louis XVI, Washington, Reynolds, and others. Died 1828.
