Spurgeon, Charles Haddon. Born in Essex in 1834. Baptist preacher. Went to London in 1853, the Metropolitan Tabernacle being opened in 1861. His sermons were published weekly almost from the beginning, and had a large sale. Spurgeon died in 1892.
