Rochambeau, Jean Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, Comte de. Born in 1725, marshal of France. Distinguished himself in Seven Years' War and the American War of Independence. In 1790 became commander of the army of the north, but resigned in 1792, and narrowly escaped execution during Reign of Terror. Died 1807.
