Nebuchadnezzar. Succeeded his father, Nabopolassar, as king of Babylon. After taking Jerusalem in 606 B.C., carried off to Babylon numerous captives, among them the prophet Daniel, who tells much about him in the book of Daniel. He afterwards conquered Tyre and Egypt. Died, 562 B.C.
