Nietzsche, Friedrich Wilhelm. Noted German philosopher. Born at Rocken, near Leipzig, 1844. Educated at Schulpforta, and at universities of Bonn and Leipzig. Nietzsche was professor of classical philology at Basel, 1869-80. Among his works are "Morgenrote," "Die Frohliche Wissenschaft," "Also Sprach Zarathustra," "Jenseits von Gut and Bose." Died near Weimar in 1900.
