Nightingale, Florence. Was born in Florence in 1820 and, in 1851, entered an institution of sisters of mercy at Kaiserwerth. On November 4, 1854, she arrived with a corps of women at Scutari, and brought the hospital there to a high state of efficiency. She wrote "Notes on Hospitals" and "Notes on Nursing." Florence Nightingale died in 1910.
