Jowett, Benjamin, M. A. Born in 1817. Successively scholar, fellow, and master of Balliol College, Oxford, and Regius professor of Greek from 1855. His works include translations of Plato and Thucydides. He contributed a paper "On the Interpretation of Scripture" to "Essays and Reviews." Died 1893.
