Harrison, William Henry. Born in 1773. Ninth president of the United States. Distinguished himself in wars with the Indians, and in that of 1812-14 with Great Britain. He was for some time governor of the newly formed Territory of Indiana, and was made minister to Colombia in 1828. After his recall, Harrison was an unsuccessful candidate for the presidency, but was elected in 1840 in opposition to the Democrat, Van Buren. Died 1841.
