Herod Philip, a son of Herod the Great by Cleopatra of Jerusalem. He is not the Philip who was Herodias' first husband, but was married to her daughter Salome. As his share of his father's dominions he received Ituraea and other districts northeast of the Jordan, of which he was tetrarch. He was a good ruler, the builder of many cities, among them Caesarea Philippi. After his death his domain became part of the province of
