Caxton, William. The founder of English printing. Caxton was born in 1422. During a residence in Flanders, Caxton acquired the new typographic art, and on his return set up a press in the Almonry, Westminster, where he brought out the first printed books seen in England, the "History of Troy." Died 1491.
