Bellini, Giovanni. Born about 1426. Venetian painter, son of Jacopo Bellini, himself a painter of note, and the teacher of Titian, who finished several of his works. He began by portrait painting; he afterwards executed some great historical pieces for the hall of the Great Council of Venice, which were burned in 1577. Died 1516.
