Baba, Ali. Was elected dey of Algiers 1710, after the revolution in which Ibrahim Dey was killed. At great sacrifice of life, Baba liberated Algiers from the dominion of Turkey, and its independence was maintained until the French invasion, 1830. Died 1718.
