Albuquerque, Alfondo d' (al-boo-kair'-ka), a Portuguese viceroy of the Indies, born in 1453. Made his first expedition to the East in 1503, and in 1508 became governor of the Indies. After a just and humane rule, he died at Goa, 1515.
